The general overseer of the Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG), Pastor Enoch Adeboye, has recounted an encounter he had with a snake many years ago.
“Years ago, I was walking in the camp,” Adeboye said during a sermon on Sunday.
“The camp was still more than 95 per cent bush and I love to walk in the footpath of the bush to pray so that nobody will disturb me.
“I was going about praying, enjoying myself because I was alone with God and, all of a sudden, something told me to stop and I stopped. Suddenly I realised this was my normal route. I could see something on the road. It looked like a log of wood. I thought maybe somebody came to the bush, cut down some trees and didn’t carry this one back to his place.
“But, all of a sudden, it looked as if the wood was moving. When I looked more closely, I saw a huge python right across my path, and, in those days, we saw pythons almost every day. That jungle was python infested.
“The moment the thing saw that I had recognised it, it raised its head to attack.
“Of course, now that I had already seen it, I moved back a little bit and I had no weapon. But as I turned to my right, I saw a big rock. That rock was already positioned there by God. I don’t need to tell you the rest of the story. The python died and I am still alive.
“Any danger coming your way, in the mighty name of Jesus Christ, God will reveal it and he will give you victory over it!
“But are you willing to walk before him? That’s the big question. So, those of you who think you’re doing yourself a favour by living in sin, you’re doing yourself disfavour,” Adeboye said.
