Married man begs for mercy after allegedly raping landlord’s 11-year-old daughter


A shocking allegation of sexual assault has been levelled against a 39-year-old man in Osubi, Okpe local government area of Delta state.

On Saturday, March 23, 2024, an 11-year-old girl (names redacted) was allegedly raped and defiled by the man identified as Mr Ernest Okporu, who is and married.

The alleged victim’s father is Okporu’s landlord.

According to the victim’s account, Okporu lured her into his apartment under the pretext of retrieving his charger from behind the refrigerator. Once inside, he forcibly grabbed her, tied her hands, and subjected her to sexual assault. The traumatised girl alleged that he threatened to kill her if she ever spoke about the incident.

“He threatened to kill her and forced her to wash her pants that had blood stains,” Kelvin Ejumudo, a human right activist who is seeking justice for the alleged victim, said.

“I condemn rape in its entirety as it is criminal and an inhuman act,” he said.

Medical examinations, according to Ejumudo, confirmed the severity of the assault as the girl’s hymen was found to be broken, and there were signs of penetration and the presence of semen.

Okporu has reportedly admitted to the crime and is begging the father of his alleged victim for mercy. He is currently in police custody at the Orerokpe Police Station will be charged to court, a source told The Realm News.

The Divisional Police Officer (DPO) of Orerokpe Division, CSP Paul Oboware, is, according to the source, aware of the allegations.
