Aisha Yesufu blasts Buhari, ‘puppet’ Sanwo-Olu for brutalising, arresting protesters

The Nigerian government is acting like a group of terrorists against law-abiding citizens but treating bandits and Boko Haram insurgents with kids gloves, activist Aisha Yesufu has said.

Yesufu made the comment in a video she tweeted in response to police brutality and arrest of protesters at the Lekki Toll Plaza, Lagos, on Saturday.

Protesters gathered at the Lekki tollgate to stop the government from allowing Lekki Concession Company (LCC) resume toll collection until the dozens of Nigerians shot by soldiers at the venue last October get justice.

But the government sent heavily-armed police officers to arrest the demonstrators and ferry them off in Black Marias, a type of vehicle meant for suspected or convicted criminals.

“The Nigerian government behaves like leftover spaghetti before actual criminals and killers but form macho man in the face of law-abiding citizens,” Yesufu said, apparently comparing the way the government negotiates with bandits and terrorists while ordering police to attack peaceful protesters.

Yesufu urged Lagos governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu to man-up, do the right thing and stop behaving like a puppet.

She told the police officers who happily brutalise unarmed citizens to carry their show of force to Sambisa forest where Boko Haram terrorists hold sway.
