University of Abuja students have risen up in protest against what they call “oppressive school fees”.
The students took over the school gate on Monday bearing placards to press home their demands.
The protest is taking place as authorities in Abuja move to enforce President Muhammadu Buhari’s executive order on public gathering.
Images shared online showed many of the students wearing face masks in compliance with the executive order.
But the size of the crowd remained a source of concern to health authorities who fear such size could help spread the coronavirus.
Police officers were spotted monitoring the protest.
