2023: MC Oluomo forcing Lagosians, garage workers to join APC, group alleges

Lagos parks chairman Musiliu Akinsanya, aka MC Oluomo, is forcing residents to get voter cards and join the All Progressives Congress (APC), a group has alleged.

The Coalition of Oshodi Indigenes is begging the police to stop MC Oluomo from doing so.

The coalition’s spokesman, Waheed Salako, said MC Oluomo is trying to rig the 2023 election for the APC.

According to him, MC Oluomo directed officials of the state’s parks committee and people working at the garages to join the APC.

“We reiterate that every individual is entitled to his or her fundamental human rights, which include freedom to associate with any political party without any coercion,” Salako said.

“We appeal to the Commissioner of Police to call Akinsanya (MC Oluomo) to order.”

MC Oluomo, a loyalist of presidential hopeful Bola Ahmed Tinubu and Lagos governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu, however, described the allegation as ‘untrue.’ According to him, members of the coalition are working for the Peoples Democracy Party (PDP).

“As a member of the APC, is there anything wrong in canvassing votes for my party by encouraging people to get their PVCs? I can only appeal to people to get their voter’s card. Nobody is forcing anyone,” he said.

“The coalition and our people at the garages are at liberty to perform their civic duties without harassment or molestation.

“No one is forcing anybody to join the APC or obtain their PVC (permanent voter card).

“The allegations are unfounded,” MC Oluomo said.
