The Abia State Police Command has arrested one suspect following a fatal road crash that claimed the life of Ifeanyi Mmesoma Miracle, a second‑year student at Abia State University (ABSU).
The collision took place on Sunday on the Okigwe–Afikpo Expressway in Uturu and attracted attention after a video of the victim’s body at the scene circulated online.
Confirming the incident on Monday, the Police Public Relations Officer, Maureen Chioma Chinaka, said two motorcycles (popular called okada) collided head‑on, throwing their passengers onto the carriageway.
The victim was then run over by an oncoming Mack truck.
“The command is aware of the incident, which occurred at the Water Board area of Uturu on 19 April 2026. Two motorcycles were involved in a head‑on collision, causing passengers to be thrown onto the road. This led to the death of Miss Ifeanyi Mmesoma Miracle, who was run over by a moving Mack truck,” she said.
Officers from the Motor Traffic Department visited the scene, Chinaka added, and injured victims were taken to hospital and are responding to treatment.
She said the deceased’s remains have been released to her family after a medical doctor confirmed the death. The two motorcycles and the truck involved have been recovered and taken to the police station.
One suspect is currently in custody, the police spokesperson said, and efforts are ongoing to apprehend two other suspects in connection with the crash.
