RCCG: Months after City of David exit, Pastor Iluyomade attends communion service at Redemption Camp
Pastor Idowu Iluyomade has been spotted among others at a monthly communion service at the Redemption Camp of the Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG).
The appearance of Iluyomade at the service tagged ‘Heavenly Rewards’ ran against reports that he had severed ties with RCCG after the general overseer Pastor E. A. Adeboye suspended and removed him from his lucrative role at the church’s City of David parish.
Speculations were rife since Iluyomade’s suspension that the pastor had resigned from the church.
Iluyomade’s attendance at the RCCG communion service was, according to a source quoted by Vanguard on Saturday, an indication that the pastor was still very much part of RCCG.
He was spotted at the service with Pastor Kayode Pitan who took over from him at his former place of assignment.
“The media just love to write what they are not sure of,” the source was quoted to have said.
“It is true that Pastor Iluyomade was suspended, and he duly served at the church national headquarters. Seeing him yesterday at the church holy communion service is an indication that he did not resign from the church.”
Since his suspension from the City of David parish about three months ago, Iluyomade has maintained a low profile.
The suspension of Iluyomade came after the elaborate 60th birthday celebration of his wife, Siju.
Church Times reported an unnamed top RCCG pastor saying that the decision to suspend Iluyomade was a response to the public outcry against the extravagant birthday party of his wife shortly after the death of the then Chief Executive Officer of Access Bank, Herbert Wigwe, who was a prominent and financially committed church member.
