‘Patriotic Nigerians’ protest for Buhari in London
Pro-government demonstrators have stormed the venue of an anti-Buhari protest in London, the United Kingdom.
Former presidency aide Reno Omokri had organised a protest against President Muhammadu Buhari who is in London for a “routine medical checkup”.
The protesters accuse Buhari of enjoying premium healthcare abroad while leaving Nigerian hospitals in ruins.
As we speak, resident doctors have downed tools in Africa’s largest country following months of unpaid salaries.
But pro-Buhari demonstrators, on Monday, showed up at the protest venue to declare support for the Buhari government, presidency spokesperson Garba Shehu said.
He also shared photos of the demonstrators whom he described as patriots.
“A cross section of patriotic Nigerians are currently converging at the Nigerian House in the United Kingdom to show solidarity and support for the Muhammadu Buhari led administration,” Shehu said in the social media post.
Earlier reports had it that a presidency cabal hired the pro-Buhari crowd for N40,000 per protester.
The demonstrations are holding at the Nigeria House in London.
