Buhari visits Kuje prison after terrorist attack as 63 Boko Haram inmates, 443 others remain missing

President Muhammadu Buhari Wednesday afternoon visited the Kuje custodial facility in Abuja that was attacked by terrorists Tuesday night.

Buhari is expected to jet out to Senegal for an international summit.

The attackers freed hundreds of inmates. An official said four inmates and a security official were killed during the attack.

About 443 inmates are still at large while another 443 have been recaptured, a spokesperson said.

But sources say the many of the ‘recaptured’ inmates voluntarily returned to the facility after the attack.

About 63 of the inmates still at large are members of the terror group, Boko Haram, the defence minister said.
