Kagara students: Many kidnapped as bandits invade another Nigerian school
A large number of students have been abducted by armed bandits at Government Science College (GSC) Kagara, in Niger State.
The exact number of the Kagara students that were kidnapped was not immediately clear.
The bandits in military uniforms stormed the school premises which has close to 1000 students on Tuesday night and overpowered the security guard before whisking away the students.
However, some of the Kagara students escaped after the raid, PR Nigeria reported.
A headcount was being conducted at the school in the wee hours of Wednesday to ascertain the actual number of missing students.
It was also gathered that security agencies were able to detect the coordinates and nature of the area, and have started tracing the bandits’ movement.
Nigerian Air Force (NAF) aircraft have been seen hovering in the air to track the location of the students.
The mass kidnapping comes weeks after bandits abducted hundreds of students from a school in Kankara, Katsina State. The Nigerian government had to negotiate with the kidnappers before the school boys were freed.
