June 12: We will protest because Buhari is a protester too — Deji Adeyanju
Concerned Nigerians convener Deji Adeyanju has urged President Muhammadu Buhari to stop framing protest as criminality.
Adeyanju made the call while featuring on an AIT TV programme.
“Buhari is a protester,” Adeyanju said, reminding the president that he once led nationwide demonstrations against former President Goodluck Jonathan.
Adeyanju’s comments followed the Buhari interview Arise TV aired on Thursday in which the president demonised EndSARS protesters and accused them of “wanting to remove me”.
The activist’s comment also came ahead of tomorrow’s Democracy Day protest with the authorities warning Nigerians not to march on June 12.
“Even animals won’t be attacked or killed in a zoo for complaining and protesting,” Adeyanju tweeted on Friday.
“Buhari and all the current clowns in government must be told that this is a democracy.
“We will protest all over Nigeria tomorrow,” he said.
