China dashes Trump’s hope congratulates Biden
President Trump seemed to have lost the Chinese Government support though pundits say he never had it
After a week of silence, the Chinese government, Friday, joined few world leaders to congratulate the US president-elect, Joe Biden and his Vice, Kamala Harris, Bloomberg reports.
Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesperson Wang Wenbin told a briefing in Beijing that they are abreast of the events since the November 3, presidential election.
“We have been following the reaction on this US presidential election from both within the United States and from the international community,” he said.
He added, “We respect the American people’s choice and extend congratulations to Mr. Biden and Ms. Harris.”
The congratulatory message came amid President Trump’s contention of the election outcome in the court.
“We understand that the result of the US presidential election will be determined following the US laws and procedures,” Wenbin said.
