Buhari: ‘Today is the birthday of the number one problem of Nigeria’ — Lere Olayinka
As President Muhammadu Buhari marks his 78th birthday today, a political opposition figure has unloaded on the Nigerian leader.
“Today is the birthday of the number one problem of Nigeria,” Lere Olayinka said in a social media post on Thursday.
Olayinka was just made the spokesperson of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in the South-West. He was also spokesperson to former Ekiti governor Ayodele Fayose.
Those who agree with Olayinka’s assessment of Buhari will point to the growing negative indices across Nigeria.
Under Buhari’s watch, over 13 million children are out of school. Millions, who escape gruesome slaughter, remain displaced by Boko Haram terrorism and banditry. Nigeria’s inflation is at a 30-year high. The naira is taking a beating from other currencies. Youth employment soars. The prices of rice and other staple foods have more than trippled. There is insecurity in the land. And that is just a tip of the calamity, many say.
Critics like Olayinka argue that Buhari is an incompetent leader who was packaged by political deceivers as the only solution to Nigeria.
That is the reason, they say, Buhari is unable to fulfill his campaign promises. They argue that he simple cannot give what he does not have.
But Buhari’s media aide Garba Shehu, on Thursday, said his boss is not a product of propaganda.
