Bandits in military uniform invade Abuja, demand N15 million for kidnapped resident
Suspected bandits on Sunday night attacked Pegi community in the Kuje Area Council of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Abuja.
They abducted a resident who was returning from work.
The gunmen were said to have dressed in army camouflage and fired shots in the air, forcing many commuters who were on their way home to stop in panic.
A certain Laide Muhammad was whisked away in the process.
The kidnappers have, according to Sahara Reporters, contacted Muhammad’s family and demanded the sum of N15 million in ransom.
Pegi Community Development Association chairman Isaac Aderibigbe said the attacks on the community were becoming worrisome as residents now live in fear.
There have been several incidents of kidnapping in the community in less than a month. One person was recently kidnapped and a ransom of N2 million was paid before he was released.
