Afenifere names new leaders as Fasoranti steps aside
Pan-Yoruba socio-political group Afenifere has appointed a new leader.
Chief Ayo Adebanjo, who formerly served as the deputy leader of the group, will now serve as acting National leader of Afenifere.
The emergence of Adebanjo followed the stepping down of Pa Reuben Fasoranti, The Nation reported.
Fasoranti, 95, said he stepped down over his inability to function optimally due to old age.
Fasoranti had led the Afenifere since 2008.
He announced his stepping down at the group’s monthly meeting in Akure, the Ondo State capital.
Former financial secretary, Oba Oladipo Olaitan, the Alaago of Kajola Ago, Atakumosa East council area, Ilesa, Osun State has also been named the group’s deputy leader.
