We want to negotiate with Buhari government — Twitter
Twitter says it has informed informed Nigerian government that it was ready for open discussion over the suspension of the microblogging site in the country.
The Muhammadu Buhari regime banned Twitter a week ago, saying it was threatening its Nigeria’s existence.
“Today marks one week since Twitter was blocked in Nigeria,” Twitter Police said in a tweet on Friday.
“We have informed the Nigerian government that we are ready to meet for an open discussion to address mutual concerns and see the service restored.
“We remain advocates for the free and open internet everywhere.”
Information and culture minister Lai Mohammed was ridiculed online, Wednesday, after saying Twitter had reached out to Nigeria for high level discussion over the ban.
Twitter’s statement confirmed Mohammed’s claim.
