Service chiefs: Buratai’s wife hands over to Attahiru’s wife
Umma-Kalsum Tukur Buratai has stepped down from her role as National President of Nigerian Army Officers Wives Association (NAOWA).
The role is usually played by the wife of the Chief of Army Staff (COAS).
Umma-Kalsum handed over to Fati Ibrahim Attahiru following the resignation of Buratai as COAS and the appointment of Ibrahim Attahiru as his replacement. President Muhammadu Buhari also replaced other service chiefs.
The handover took place at the NAOWA National Secretariat in Abuja on Monday, February 1, 2021.
Outgoing president Umma-Kalsum thanked the body for working towards the progress of the country.
After handover notes were signed by both women, new president Fati gave a speech in which she promised to sustain her predecessor’s legacy.
