Police retake Obalende after hours of NURTW violence in Lagos
Normalcy has returned to the Obalende area of Lagos, state police rapid response squad (RRS) says.
Recall that there was tumult in the area on Thursday as rival factions of the National Union of Road Transport Workers (NURTW) exchanged gunfire.
The clash, which started around 8am, caused panic in the area as motorists, passengers and passersby scampered for safety.
Witnesses took to social media, warning commuters to avoid the area.
“Normal business activities have returned to Obalende as police officers maintain strategic presence around the area,” RRS later said.
