Obi Aguocha: Over 200 Abia constituents set to benefit from scholarship scheme

At least 200 persons are set to benefit from a scholarship scheme powered by Obi Aguocha, the House of Representatives lawmaker representing Ikwuano, Umuahia North and Umuahia South federal constituency of Abia state.

Aguocha’s office said the beneficiaries will include students who hail from the constituency, and who will receive educational support and other form of palliatives in the early periods of 2024 and thereafter.

The educational grants, coming at a time when parents usually have to spend a lot on school fees, will help cushion the effects of the rising costs of education on benefiting Abia families, those who appreciate Aguocha’s initiative say.

The move is also expected to have a positive impact on human resource development in the constituency, Abia state and Nigeria.

Aguocha’s office recently released a list of 180 students nominated to enjoy the first batch of the scholarship. He also gave slots to traditional rulers, local government chairpersons and student union leaders.

“The general public are by this notice to inform their dependants of Ikwuano, Amuania North, and Umuahia South Federal Constituency listed below of their acceptance into the 2024 educational palliative grant programme by Hon. Obi Aguocha, the Honourable Member representing Ikwuano, Umuahia North, and Umuania South at the National Assembly, Federal House of Representatives,” the notice from Aguocha’s office read.

“The selection process was multiple-layered and cuts across the 32 political wards within the Federal Constituency.

“The successful candidates are required to come with the following documents to collect
their official acceptance form. The acceptance form is free.”

The required documents are:

1.) Certificate of nativity authenticated by their local government chairman or by their
traditional ruler

2) Admission letter or previous statement of result authenticated by their DVC Admin, Principal or Headmaster

3) Two original passport photos

4) Letter of attestation from their parents or church pastors/imam

5) Their account details
