Nigeria’s sports ministry reportedly begs Sunday Oliseh to coach Super Eagles
The Ministry of Youth and Sports are reportedly in talks with Sunday Oliseh to return to the Super Eagles coach.
Oliseh, a Nigerian football legend, vowed in 2016 to coach the team he once captained again. He had resigned from the job after falling out with Nigeria’s football administrators who criticised his handling of the first team.
Oliseh was, in some circles, accused of fighting the players.
A return for Oliseh to the national team will shake things up. It is not clear if the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) is okay with the reported plan.
The NFF sacked the team’s technical crew after Nigeria failed to qualify for the Qatar 2022 FIFA World Cup. The team had also failed to fly at this year’s Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON 2022) in Cameroon.
