Manchester City, Bayern Munich suffer shocking defeats
German champions Bayern Munich were handed a 4-1 defeat by host Hoffenheim in a Bundesliga tie at the weekend.
The result ended Bayern’s impressive 23-game winning streak. Bayern were unbeaten in 32 games, a run that saw them win last season’s treble and the Uefa Super Cup on Thursday.
The Germans had not lost a match since December 2019. They can now kiss that record goodbye as the football league resumes.
In England, Manchester City were thoroughly beaten 5-2 by visiting Leicester City forcing the hosts’ coach Pep Guardiola to blame the result on a tight Premier League schedule.
