Lekki: Security cameras removed as police brace to evict resolute protesters
Officials were seen uninstalling security cameras from Lagos’ Lekki tollgate on Tuesday.
The move came after the government declared a 24-hour curfew and the police banned protests and all public gatherings.
But EndSARS protesters remained at the scene after the curfew went into effect by 4pm.
Nigerians have been gathering to protest against police brutality for days with the security cameras intact.
The removal of the cameras following a ban on protests is fuelling apprehensions that the government may be planning on attacking the demonstrators under the cover of darkness.
Protesters have vowed to remain unmoved and to record any brutality with their mobile phones.
