Kogi poly students, primary school pupil die in Lokoja tanker explosion
A petrol tanker explosion at Felele area of Lokoja, Kogi State Capital, has claimed at least 10 lives, reports say.
The fatal explosion occurred around 8:00 a.m. on Wednesday after a petrol tanker lost control and rammed into oncoming vehicles.
The victims, according to reports, include five Kogi State Polytechnic students and a primary school pupil. Reports also say 17 other people who live in the area died in the explosion.
No fire service within the state capital responded to the scene more than an hour after the emergency.
Kogi state governor Yahaya Bello called for calm following the tragedy.
