How Nigerian military should fight bandits — Seyi Makinde
Governor Seyi Makinde of Oyo has appealed to the Nigerian military to deploy troops in border towns to check the influx of bandits and other criminals.
Makinde made the call while receiving the Chief of Defence Staff, Gen. Lucky Irabor, who led other top military personnel on a courtesy visit to the governor on Thursday in Ibadan.
The governor, represented by his deputy, Rauf Olaniyan, noted that the Oke-Ogun area’s border towns were porous.bndot
He explained that insecurity was not peculiar to the state, saying it is a national issue.
He urged the security agencies to intensify efforts in tackling the menace and restore permanent security of lives and property across the country.
The governor, who said there was an effective synergy between all security agencies and the state, promised to continue sustaining the relationship.
He further pledged that his administration would sustain the provision of logistics and other assistance that would enhance the security personnel’s performance.
Earlier, Irabor said the Nigerian military and other security agencies were working to address the country’s security issues.
