‘How can schoolgirls be missing and our leader appears incapable?’ — Buhari asks
Muhammadu Buhari called into question the incapability of the Nigerian president to rescue kidnapped schoolgirls.
Buhari tweeted:
“How can 219 girls be missing in our country, and our leader appears incapable of action? Things must change.”
The tweet was posted on January 6, 2015, when Goodluck Jonathan was still president. The tweet was about the whereabouts of the scores of schoolgirls Boko Haram terrorists kidnapped from Chibok in Borno State on April 14, 2014.
Weeks after posting that tweet, Buhari was elected president and Jonathan defeated.
Since becoming president, Buhari has overseen at least five major mass abductions as confidence in the Nigerian leader’s capability to secure the country grows thin.
After bandits kidnapped over 300 schoolgirls from Jangebe in Zamfara, Buhari issued a warning to the bandits whom he also accused of blackmail.
But Nigerians have unearthed the president’s critical tweet about his predecessor and are asking the same question Buhari asked six years ago.
You can see the live tweet here if Buhari’s handlers have not deleted it.
