Essa Ogorry: Pastor dies after cancelling wedding over couple’s lateness
Pastor Essa Ogorry of Fulfilling Word Foundation Church is dead, multiple reports say.
Ogorry died in the early hours of Tuesday, February 16, 2020, exactly a year after his wife passed on. It was gathered that the pastor celebrated his birthday only last week.
Ogorry recently made the news after reportedly cancelling a wedding following the failure of the intending couple to show up on time.
Following the pastor’s death, fresh details have emerged about the circumstances surrounding the wedding fiasco.
“The couple were not five minutes late,” a source told The Realm News on Wednesday. “They were 40 minutes late.”
“And they already signed a document stipulating penalties for arriving late for their own wedding. The church came up with the policy to combat late coming.
“Pastor Ogorry flew into Port Harcourt (Rivers State) for that wedding but the couple, who were in the city showed up late.
“The pastor even offered to join the couple in his office but they refused,” the source said.
According to the source, Ogorry had been battling an undisclosed ailment before the wedding. He offered to conduct the ceremony in his office due to that ailment, the source said.
Those who were condemning the church for refusing to hold the wedding openly after the couple came late did not, according to the source, know this fact.
