Christian Eriksen is alive
The EURO 2020 game between Denmark and Finland was suspended after Christian Eriksen collapsed on the pitch of play.
The referee stopped game and signalled to medics to come onto the pitch after the Danish footballer slumped.
Some of the other players were seen crying as the medics administered CPR on Eriksen to get his heart going again.
BBC showed a clip of Eriksen’s wife crying, UK viewers said in multiple tweets. Fans across the world sent prayers and hoped for the best.
Eriksen later regained consciousness and was taken to hospital, UEFA confirmed.
“Following the medical emergency involving Denmark’s player Christian Eriksen, a crisis meeting has taken place with both teams and match officials and further information will be communicated at 19:45 CE,” the football governing body tweeted via its EURO 2020 Twitter handle on Saturday.
“The player has been transferred to the hospital and has been stabilised.”
