Buhari orders Lai Mohammed, Isa Pantami, Malami, others to negotiate with Twitter
President Muhammadu Buhari has appointed a team to engage with Twitter over the suspension of its operations in the country.
Information and culture minister, Lai Mohammed, who will chair the team made, the announcement on Tuesday.
Attorney-general Abubakar Malami and Communications and digital economy minister Isa Pantami are also on the team.
Works minister Babatunde Fashola and foreign affairs minister Geoffrey Onyeama are also on board.
The Buhari regime indefinitely suspended Twitter’s operations over “activities that are capable of undermining Nigeria’s corporate existence.”
The widely-condemned ban came after Twitter deleted a post in which Buhari threatened to unleash the military on separatists.
Telecoms operators were ordered to block Twitter in the country but Nigerians turned to virtual private networks (VPNs) to evade the blockade.
