Buhari meets new EFCC chairman, Abdulrasheed Bawa, in Aso Rock
Newly-appointed chairman of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), Abdulrasheed Bawa, met with President Muhammadu Buhari on Thursday.
The Aso Rock meeting followed Wednesday’s confirmation of Bawa as the substantive chairman of the EFCC.
Bawa, 40, was nominated by Buhari, confirmed by the Senate and has set the record of becoming the youngest person to lead the antigraft body.
The government recently promoted Bawa to Level 14 so he could possess the rank worthy of his new role as head of the EFCC.
As EFCC boss, Bawa will be expected to carry on Buhari’s purported war on corruption after former chairman Ibrahim Magu was removed over alleged corruption.
