Buhari decorates new service chiefs, demands quick action on insecurity
President Muhammadu Buhari decorated his newly-appointed service chiefs in Abuja on Friday.
The service chiefs, their wives and Vice President Osinbajo were also present at the swearing-in ceremony which followed a Senate confirmation of the new security bosses.
“I have charged the new service chiefs to keep in mind that the nation is looking to them for rapid relief,” Buhari said after the event.
“They must identify competent officers irrespective of seniority and paper qualifications, and work with them to secure this country.
“As Commander-In-Chief, I am backing them 100 per cent.
“As I assured at our last security meeting, I have taken responsibility as Commander-In-Chief for them to go out into the fields and every part of the country, to ensure peace and security.
“I have accepted responsibility for all actions taken in fulfillment of the mandate to secure Nigeria,” Buhari said.
The new service chiefs are:
- Maj. Gen. Lucky Eluonye Onyenucheya lrabor – Chief of Defence Staff (CDS)
- Maj. Gen. Ibrahim Attahiru – Chief of Army Staff (COAS)
- Rear Admiral Awwal Zubairu Gambo – Chief of Naval Staff (CNS)
- Air Vice Marshal Isiaka O. Amao – Chief of Air Staff (CAS)
