Boko Haram: It will be hard for Nigerians to live with ‘born again’ terrorists — group
The West Africa Network for Peace Building has said a lot still needs to be done to get the society ready for “repentant Boko Haram members.”
Recall that the President Muhammadu Buhari government is rehabilitating repentant terrorists and sending them back into the society they once attacked.
Speaking on Saturday in Maiduguri at the ‘Localisation of United Nations Security Council Resolution 1325’, the National Coordinator, WANEP, Nigeria, Bridget Osakwe, said:
“We have to build capacity to handle such things. Research conducted in the North-East has shown that the people need to be encouraged to give up on some misgivings about insurgents and the need to allow for peace by forgiving them their sins.”
She said if there was no proper reconciliation, people would never be at peace with those who had done harm to them.
She added that the workshop would come handy on the issues brought about by EndSARS protest because it was all about bringing security and building capacity and helping women on conflict management.
