Bandits kidnap doctor in Kogi
Suspected bandits have reportedly abducted the Medical Director of Peace Hospital, Ayingba, Dr Azubuike Joel Ihenacho.
The Kogi State chapter of the Nigerian Medical Association (NMA) said Dr Ihenacho was kidnapped at his residence in Ayingba.
The suspected kidnapping occured on Sunday evening, state NMA chairman Dr Omakoji Oyiguh and his secretary Dr Famotele Tolorunju told journalists on Monday.
The suspected bandits reportedly stormed Dr Azubuike’s residence between 9.00 to 9.30pm on Saturday and took him away. The NMA called on security operatives to help in the search and rescue of the doctor.
The abducted Doctor was, according the the NMA, in a vehicle with another man and his wife at the front of his house when the gunmen struck and ordered the other two occupants in the car out. The suspected bandits then left with the doctor.
“Dr Azubuike Joel Iheanacho was kidnapped in front of his house at Anyigba in Dekina Local government area of Kogi State,” the NMA said.
“He was in a vehicle with another man and the wife when the kidnappers ordered the other two out of the car,” the NMA said.
The matter has been reported to the police who have reportedly launched a rescue mission.
