No more free pass as Lagos panel returns Lekki tollgate to LCC

The Lagos judicial panel set up to investigate Lekki shooting has returned the Lekki Toll Plaza to LCC.

The development could mean a return to the collection of toll fees from drivers who ply the route.

Toll fees collection was suspended after soldiers, on October 20, 2020, allegedly opened fire on protesters who were waving the Nigerian flag and demanding an end to police brutality.

A panel, which has no power in law to arrest anyone found culpable, was then set up to hold hearings on the matter.

The panel announced it had returned the tollgate to LCC on Saturday, sending the session into chaos.
