4 ‘Fulani bandits’ escape from Nigerian prison
Four inmates of the Maximum Correctional Centre in Jos, Plateau state, have escaped from the facility.
The correctional centre said to be housing thousands of inmates is located near the state police command headquarters in the state capital.
The escapees were Fulani bandits arraigned before a Barkin Ladi Court last year.
They are Umar Adamu, Yusuf Adamu, Musa Abdulkasim, Mohammed Ibrahim, Bashir Mohammed.
The spokesman for the correctional centre, Geoffrey Longdien, confirmed the escape of the inmates.
“Four inmates of the correctional centre escaped at the early hours of Thursday. Investigation is ongoing and we shall brief the press when we finish,” he said.
