Auwal and his friends were reportedly attacked while returning from meeting with the Speaker of the Kaduna State House of Assembly.

A Nigerian youth who has been campaigning for the government to solve the security crisis in the northern part of the country has now been killed by gunmen, reports say.

Rabiu Auwal, according to reports, was among the occupants of a motor car that suspected bandits attacked along Kaduna railway station.

The young man, who was also a student union leader, reportedly died at the spot after the gunmen opened fire. Another occupant of the car was kidnapped while the third sustained serious injuries.

The three young men were on their way after attending a meeting with the Speaker of the Kaduna State House of Assembly, Yusuf Zailani, when the attack happened, Daily Trust reported.

“As they were approaching the rail station at Rigasa, the kidnappers opened fire at their vehicle and killed Rabiu Auwal,” a source reportedly said.
