Lagos NYSC denies housing COVID-19 patients in Agege camp

The National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) has denied using its orientation camp in Agege area of Lagos for treating cornavirus patients.

The local NYSC management issued the denial in a statement on Saturday.

The statement reads:

“The attention of NYSC management in Lagos has been drawn to a tweet making the rounds that NYSC Lagos Camp in Agege is not being used to Camp Corps Members, but rather used for COVID-19 patients.

“The management wishes to state that the Orientation Course Training for 2020 Batch ‘B’ Stream 1A is presently ongoing at NYSC Orientation Camp in Agege.

“There has not been a time in the past or present when the NYSC Camp in Lagos is used for COVID-19 patients.

“For the avoidance of doubts, all camp officials and prospective corps members deployed to Lagos for the ongoing orientation course training are made to undergo a Rapid COVID-19 IgM/IgG Combo Test just like in all other orientation camps nationwide.

“Some corps members deployed to Lagos are equally dislodged to Ekiti, Ondo and Osun States as the Lagos orientation camp may not be able to contain all the corps members owing to the strict observance of COVID-19 social distancing protocols.

“Social media influencers are advised to please confirm their information before posting any information as such unconfirmed stories are capable of misleading members of the society.

“Members of the public are therefore enjoined to disregard the information, which is purely the hand work of mischief makers specifically targeted at discrediting the ongoing camp in Lagos and thereby misleading members of the society.”
