Imo: Students get free books, bags

The Imo State Government says it is giving out free books and bags to students and pupils.

“We have launched the Shared Prosperity Education Support Scheme (SPESC) and distribution of customized school note books and bags for primary and secondary schools in Imo,” Governor Hope Uzodimma said on Tuesday.

“It is expected that through these educational materials, our students will be more motivated in the process of learning and knowledge acquisition.

“Recall that the Covid-19 pandemic and the attendant forced lockdowns had kept our students away from the conventional schooling process for months. We hope to spur their interest and increase students enrollment, once again, through this initiative.

“We have continued to promote the cause of education in the state through some well-intended policies like the ban on all forms of levies and dues in our schools, amongst others.

“Our future, as a state, is dependent on the quality of education we bequeath to our children. We are mindful of this, hence, our commitment to bettering the teaching and learning process in the state.”
