Hisbah: Bauchi’s Islamic police to ‘deport’ foreign sex workers

The Bauchi State Government said it would repatriate all commercial sex workers operating in the state to their various states.

The Permanent Commissioner 2 in charge of Hisbah in the Shariah Commission, Bauchi State, Aminu Balarae Isah, disclosed this at a pre-Ramadan sensitisation workshop held at Bayan Gari area, a suburb of the state metropolis.

He said this would be to enable them to get a more decent source of livelihood.

He said before their repatriation, their data would be taken through a headcount by the commission of all the commercial sex workers operating in the state.

Isah said the repatriation would be done in collaboration with their various states and local government areas.

He said, “We’re not here to arrest you but rather to help and repatriate you to your various local government areas and states of origin, so that you can engage yourselves in a meaningful and decent life.”

According to him, Hisbah will help in marrying them off and provide them with all the necessary marital beddings, furniture, etc. if some of them, who are indigenes of the state, get suitable spouses.

One of the participants at the workshop, who spoke on behalf of her colleagues, Hafsatu Azare, commended Hisbah for organising the educative and beneficial workshop.

She promised that if government would help them with a better source of livelihood, they would quit their indecent lifestyle.
