EndSARS: ‘Stop protesting,’ Lawan, Gbajabiamila beg Nigerian youth

Senate President Ahmad Lawal and Speaker, House of Representatives Femi Gbajabiamila met with President Muhammadu Buhari in Abuja on Sunday.

Buhari, who has not held a presidential media chat since he won his first election in 2015, did not speak with journalists after the meeting.

But Lawan and Gbajabiamila did and used the opportunity to appeal to the youth to suspend EndSARS protests across the country.

Protesters have been marching since October 3 to call for comprehensive police reform.

The National Assembly leaders said the protests should now be suspended as the government has heard and accepted their demands.

“Since the issues have been accepted, the time has come for the protests to stop,” Lawan said.

“The government needs to have time to implement the demands of the protesters”, he said.
