Eguavoen quits as NFF fires Super Eagles technical crew

Coach Augustine Eguavoen has stepped aside from his job as Super Eagles’ technical adviser.

His resignation followed the failure of Nigeria to qualify for the FIFA World Cup 2022.

Recall that Eguavoen, who also coached the Super Eagles to a disastrous African Cup of Nations (AFCON 2022) in Cameroon, was unable to stop Ghana from making it to Qatar at Nigeria’s expense.

The Amaju-Pinnick-led Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) has now fired the technical crew and withdrawn the two-and-a-half years’ contract offered to the coaches.

The NFF will investigate the Super Eagles’ recent failures and later appoint a new technical crew.

“We thank the coaches and team officials for their service to the nation and wish them success in their future endeavours,” NFF general secretary Mohammed Sanusi, is quoted to have said.
