Buhari could stay in power beyond 2023, legislative aide warns Nigerians

President Muhamadu Buhari could capitalise on the state of insecurity to extend his tenure, a legislative aide has warned.

Buhari’s tenure expires in 2023 but the attacks on the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) and the general insecurity in the country could prove critical in keeping the president in power beyond his term.

This is according to Akinolye NG who is also a public affairs commentator.

“Those who have read about latest re-emergence of Babagana Kingibe and presidency’s release of today (civil war in the South-East) will see clearer all I’ve been saying about 2023 polls not likely to come,” Akinloye said.

“The possibility of constitutional extension of tenures of NASS and SHAs members, president and governors beyond 2023 is possible.
