2 feared killed as Okorocha, Uzodimma’s thugs clash over seized estate

Two people were killed during a bloody political clash in Imo on Sunday, an eyewitness said.

The clash involved thugs loyal to former governor Rochas Okorocha and those who support current governor Hope Uzodimma.

The deadly violence ensued at Royal Spring Hotel, Akachi, Owerri following Uzodimma decision to seize Okorocha’s estate.

Recall that the Imo State Government seized some properties acquired by former governor Okorocha.

Imo’s Commissioner for Lands, Enyinnaya Onuegbu, led some people to confiscate the property said to belong to Okorocha’s wife, Nkechi.

Okorocha then led some of his men to forcefully retake the hotel, reports say.

Eyewitnesses, according to Sahara Reporters, said they heard sounds of gunshots, forcing people to ran for safety in the estate.

“It is very hot now,” an eyewitness said.

“Call the police to rescue us from Okorocha and the governor’s loyalists. Two people are already dead.”
